Legends Unite: KSA Visits General Kollington on His Special Day

Legendary musician King Sunny Ade recently paid a visit to fellow music icon General Kollington Ayinla, in celebration of the latter's 75th birthday.

This heartwarming encounter between two Nigerian music legends was a testament to their enduring friendship and mutual respect.

General Ayinla Kollington, a pioneering Fuji musician from Kwara State, marked a significant milestone in his life, having traded a military career for a successful music path. Affectionately known as 'Baba Alagbado', he has left an indelible mark on the Nigerian music scene."

General Kollington’s style of music is a blend of waka and Muslim-dominated Apala , which is also somehow related to the juju music as well. Till date, he still remains a significant figure in the history of Fuji music.

Just recently it was reported that General Ayinla turned 75-year-old and a grand surprise visit was made by the King Sunny Ade himself.

Veteran Nigerian jùjú icon, Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye MFR, popularly known as King Sunny Ade, a Nigerian jùjú singer, a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. He is categorized as one of the first African pop musician that gained international access and success.

Ade has since gained the title as the most influential musician of all times. He does a combination of African-pop and jùjú, Yoruba vocal forms and percussion with a spice of western rock and roll.

During his youth, he use played Highlife, but in the later part of his life, started doing the jùjú music, and then, it was seen to be a kind of music for the then Yoruba Elites.

In the footage, King Sunny Ade was sighted, standing graciously outside Kollington’s residence, with the Fuji maestro also sitting with his entourage.

The atmosphere was seen to have been filled with warmth and mutual admiration as King Sunny Ade, engaged General Kollington in a private conversation, that they both seemed so invested in, which later led a to hearty laughter from both legends and a shared chuckles amongst others present therein.

The heartfelt exchanged in the video of this memorable encounter has since taken over social media by surprise, showing the two musical legends.

The capturing of their deep and friendly interaction, revealed a very genuine bond, love and respect between these two, and it indeed deeply touched fans and caused netizens to react, because, it’s not everyday, they get to see, Musical Legends of those days, come together.

In another viral video shared online, the legends were seen enjoying themselves and showcasing their skills on the snooker board.
